Flique is a social app for everything you watch. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This Privacy Policy describes how Flique Studio (“Flique,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information in connection with the Flique mobile app, our website at flique.studio, and related services (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you give us
- Account details. When you sign up we collect your phone number and/or email address, which we use to send a one-time verification code. You may also add a display name, username, and profile photo.
- Profile and taste data. Genres, languages, streaming services, and titles you select during onboarding or in settings to personalize your recommendations.
- Content you create. The titles you log, your ratings, reviews and notes, playlists and collections, comments, discussions, movie nights, and recommendations you send to friends.
- Contacts (optional). If you choose to find friends from your contacts, we use the phone numbers in your address book to match you with people already on Flique. We ask for your permission first, and you can decline or revoke this at any time in your device settings.
- Messages to us. If you contact support or submit feedback, we keep what you send so we can help.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the app is used — screens viewed, features used, taps, and similar interaction events. This includes session replay, which records in-app interactions (not your device's other apps) to help us diagnose problems and improve the product.
- Device and technical data. Device type, operating system and app version, language, approximate region, IP address, and a push notification token if you enable notifications.
- Diagnostics. Crash and error reports that help us keep the app stable.
We do not collect precise location, and we do not use advertising identifiers or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and secure the Service.
- To create and authenticate your account using one-time verification codes.
- To power recommendations, your feed, and social features such as friends, movie nights, playlists, and discussions.
- To help you find friends through contact matching, when you opt in.
- To send you notifications you've enabled and important service messages.
- To analyze usage, fix bugs, and improve features and performance.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and safety issues.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:
- With other users. Your profile, activity, and content are visible to others according to your privacy settings. If your account is private, your library and lists are restricted to approved followers. You control much of what others can see.
- With service providers. We use trusted vendors to run Flique, who process data only on our instructions: Supabase (database, authentication, and media storage), PostHog (product analytics and session replay), Resend (transactional email), Railway (backend hosting), and Expo together with Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications). Verification codes are delivered through email and SMS providers.
- For legal and safety reasons. When we believe it is necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Flique.
- In a business transfer. If Flique is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these directly in the app:
- Access and edit your profile and taste data in settings.
- Export your data from the Data & Privacy section of settings.
- Delete your account at any time from Data & Privacy in settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated personal data, subject to limited retention described below.
- Control permissions — notifications and contacts access can be turned off in your device settings at any time.
- Manage notifications by category within the app.
To make any other privacy request, email us at support@flique.studio. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements.
Security
We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, hashed verification codes, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to protect your data and to notify you and regulators of incidents where required by law.
International transfers
Flique is operated from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the Service from outside these regions, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Children's privacy
Flique is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Where required by local law, the minimum age may be higher (for example, 16 in parts of the European Union). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at support@flique.studio and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
